Umutesi shares her moving abroad journey which initially had her set to move to Tokyo, however, due to the pandemic, she decided to move to Kigali, Rwanda, and then to Berlin, Germany where she now resides. Umutesi also shares tips on maintaining mental health and building community abroad.
Meet Umutesi:
Umutesi is a Professional Psychological Counselor with experience offering psychological counseling services internationally. She is very passionate about the de-colonization of the mental health field and practices from a Multicultural and Client-Centered (Rogerian) theoretical orientation. Umutesi is of Rwandan and Jamaican heritage and was born and raised in the northeastern United States. Her travels have taken her all over the world including South Korea, Rwanda, Poland, and Germany. She currently resides in Berlin, Germany where she works as a freelancer and offers professional psychological counseling services in English in the capital city. Umutesi is very passionate about learning more about how culture influences the ways we live and form community. She's always eager to explore these topics and tries her best to stay curious!
